Hebrews 5:7

"During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission."

push me over again

ok, with a little inspiration from my dear friend jimmy, another post. I got to spend thanksgiving with my two little choo choo nieces and I must say they are a handful. Emma is three and Mary is one and a half. They enjoy running around the house, getting excited about lots of different things, answering questions asked by grown-ups and screaming very loud when they don't get their way. It was thanksgiving evening and I watched them sit in my aunt's lap over and over as she would count to ten, then fall backwards. They would yell and scream like most girls, but then help her back up and tell her to do it again. My aunt stuck it out at least 20 times, which is quite impressive, before weariness crept in. As I watched I wished it was me they were playing with, to hold them close and make them smile. My soul needs that, to fill the loneliness, to hold someone close and enjoy them, over and over. When I see those little girls I want to look into their eyes and tell them God loves them and that He will always enjoy them. As I can't make those little girls understand that, I want to belive that for myself. Im sure God looks at me wishing I could grasp how much He loves and cares for me, how much He desires me to run to him and just be with him, and Im pretty tired of knowing that but not showing up, making excuses to spent the time else where. why run? thats where I was born to be...

thats the rub

MIKE
And what if I don't want to give up on
her?

ROB
You don't call.

MIKE
But you said I shouldn't call if I
wanted to give up on her.

ROB
Right.

MIKE
So I don't call either way.

ROB
Right.

MIKE
So what's the difference?

ROB
The only difference between giving up and
not giving up is if you take her back
when she wants to come back. See, you
can't do anything to make her want to
come back. You can only do things to
make her not want to come back.

MIKE
So the only difference is if I forget
about her or pretend to forget about her.

ROB
Right.

MIKE
Well that sucks.

ROB
It sucks.

MIKE
So it's almost a retroactive decision.
So I could, like, let's say, forget about
her and when she comes back make like I
just pretended to forget about her.

ROB
Right...or more likely the opposite.

MIKE
Right... Wait, what do you mean?

ROB
I mean first you'll pretend to forget about her,
not call - whatever, and then,
eventually, you really will forget.

MIKE
Unless she comes back first.

ROB
Ah, see, that's the thing. Somehow they
know not to come back until you really forget.

MIKE
There's the rub.

ROB
There's the rub.

trying to die

something inside,
wanting to burst,
to break and be free,

want to help change,
the condition of this messed up
and rotton age,
to refresh the good, remind the forgetful,
to point and help see,

from a pure and gentle light,
a knowledge of whats true and right,
blinding with love and peace,
captivating for all to see,
glory and splender abounds,
holiness resounds,
its too hard to be,
but the one who works it He.
